Jurala plant, located in Chittanur village of Narayanpet district, Telangana, is equipped to manufacture grain-based ethanol with a zero liquid discharge system. Strategically situated in a rice-rich region, the plant benefits from its proximity to key agricultural zones, ensuring efficient raw material sourcing and logistical advantages.

The proposed installed capacity 400 KLPD facility is one of India’s largest grain-based ethanol plant is 132 million liters, focused on producing ethanol from broken rice. The plant’s entire distillation capacity is dedicated to ethanol production for blending with petrol, to be supplied to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

Ethanol as a biofuel

Ethanol is a clear, colorless type of alcohol commonly used as both a fuel and a solvent. It is produced through the fermentation of sugars or starches found in crops such as corn, sugarcane, rice, and barley. During the fermentation process, yeast is added to the crop material, converting the sugars into ethanol and carbon dioxide.

As a renewable resource, ethanol serves as a sustainable biofuel alternative to fossil fuels. It can be produced domestically and blended with gasoline to form biofuel mixtures suitable for use in vehicles designed to run on gasoline.
